This initiative involves transforming an existing, heritage building and creating an International meeting and communications center to be known as King Abdullah Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue. The existing historical qualities of the building is intended to be high-lighted and partly reconstructed where it can be fully useful to the new project idea and the location, as well as to give opportunities to represent the idea of “open and boundless venue for dialogue” in a contemporary forward- thinking architectural language, and to house public space, offices and accommodation for teachers, research and students and other visitors. The project demand is to fully renovate the interior with modernized spaces while conserving significant architectural features of the building, improve exterior , provide an innovative state of the art systems and technology for the Center, create maximum efficiency in-use, and construct to the highest achievable quality having regard to the constraints of the Project Programme and Project Budget. The works call for utility improvements, modern lighting systems both interior and exterior, interior design and furnishing procurement, and cost control/ value engineering.
